It’s all about writing

We organize writing workshops to encourage writers to unleash and refine their skills.

PAST WORKSHOPS

  • Women's Story Circle Workshops

Ós authors facilitated a series of workshops on life stories with The Women's Story Circle and Menningarhús Spönginni. The first looked at life stories that have inspired us. The second session brought stories to life using words and images. The final session completed the cycle by passing on stories to future generations.

  • Gerðuberg Multilingual Writing Lab workshops

The Gerðuberg Multilingual Writing Lab was a series of workshops open to cis and trans women interested in an opportunity to generate new writing in a multilingual environment. Writers experimented with different styles of writing, starting from a place of memoir and new realism, bending and blending into other formats (script, prose, poetry). The workshop was co-sponsored by Borgarbókasafn, Söguhringur kvenna, Ós Pressan, and W.O.M.E.N. and facilitated by Angela Rawlings, Elena Ilkova, Ewa Marcinek, Larissa Kyzer and Randi Stebbins.

  • Barnmenningarhátið Bookmaking

Anna Valdís Kro, a founding member of Ós Pressan, facilitated two bookmaking workshops for children during Barnamenningarhátið/The Children's Cultural Festival in Reykjavík.

  • Writing 101 with Chris Lynch

Collaborative storytelling, creative unblocking, exploring a theme or maybe a haiku walk? A workshop with Chris Lynch, a writer and teacher based in Brisbane, Australia. His poetry has appeared in Tincture Journal, Apex Magazine, Blackmail Press, Brisbane New Voices II, Islet, SpeedPoets, and Stars Like Sand: Australian speculative poetry, among others.

  • Prose Flow: An Ós Workshop

Ós Pressan offered a free creative writing workshop with writer and Ós Pressan founding member Angela Rawlings. The workshop focused on generating new short prose - including prose poetry, micro fiction (postcard fiction) and vignettes.

  • Story writing workshop for kids

For Menningarnótt (Culture Night) 2017, Ós members Larissa Kyzer and Helen Cova organized a story making workshop for kids of all ages.
