Ós Pressan announces the launch of its first literary journal as part of the Reykjavík Reads Festival. The journal launch will happen on Thursday, October 20th, at 20:00, at Café Kaffislippur, Hotel Marina, Myrargata 2 in downtown Reykjavík. On October 15, Ewa Marcinek from Ós Pressan and Wiola Ujazdowska organized a reading of immigrant women writing in Iceland as part of the Reykavík Reads festival from Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature. Ós members, Virginia Gillard and Elena Ilkova, also read.
Eiríkur Örn and Athena Farrokhzad invited authors from Ós Pressan to read at a multilingual event in Ísafjörður on October 6. Anna Valdís Kro, Elena Ilkova and Ewa Marcinek shared their prose and poetry.
Ós authors are facilitating a series of workshops on life stories with The Women's Story Circle and Menningarhús Spönginni. The first, in September, looked life stories that have inspired us. The October session brought stories to life using words and images. The final session in November completes the cycle by passing on stories to future generations.
What does a container hold? Who is a reader and who is the audience? Where is the boundary between magical and mundane? The Ós container held the answers for all participants at our surprising reading. The cold, grey container was transformed into a cozy, living room set where everyone felt both at home and challenged by new experiences.
